- Annotation: The article deals with socio-cultural aspects of the use of non-traditional and non-standard materials in modern jewellery and costume jewellery. It is shown that the surge of interest in the search for non-traditional solutions in modern jewellery art is caused not only by the emergence of new technologies and the development of new materials with unique characteristics, but also by a wide range of social phenomena, customs, traditions – the general cultural and educational level of society, social trends and trends, artistic style of the era, fashion, self-positioning of a person in society, creative imagination and taste of their creator. It is proved that non-trivial and unexpected design solutions are explained not only by experimental excitement and the advantages of the used non-traditional and non-standard materials, but also by the factors of social existence – changes in the structure of consumption, nuances of its psychology and semiotics, transformation of gender perceptions and aesthetic priorities of a person.
