Annotation: A computer model was developed to statistically simulate the tear resistance dynamics of a product composed of two bonded layers. Using the finite element method, the stress concentration region in the bonding zone was investigated, and the onset of tearing was determined. The model for simulating the propagation of the tear point into the specimen is based on the concept of the movement of a stress wave crest reaching its ultimate strength in the localised tear region. It is taken into account that the ultimate strength may vary at different points along the tear point's trajectory. A comparison of modelling results with experimental data on fabric tearing revealed good agreement between the experimental and modelling results.
